Lapad is 3km from the Old Town and just 10-15 minutes by bus or a 10-minute taxi ride from the Pile Gate entrance. The bay is split into two parts: Babin Kuk and Lapad Bay. It has its own centre with a post office, shopping centre and a supermarket.
There are several swimming spots and pebble beaches, including Copacabana and Uvala Lapad. Both beaches offer water sports as well as sun loungers and umbrellas to hire.
Lapad is a pleasant area with lots of greenery, so it’s not a surprise that there are several hotels making the most of the beautiful Mediterranean landscape.
There is a lovely seaside walk around the peninsula. A must during your stay! The scenery is amazing and you can find ideal spots for swimming and relaxing while admiring the views.
Getting around by bus and taxi
The bus connection is excellent, with line 6 running almost every 10 minutes from Lapad to the Old Town. It makes access to the city easy, without the parking issue.
The bus ticket costs 15 Kuna (about 1.80 Euros) per person and is valid for an hour. You can get the timetable from the Dubrovnik Libertas website (PDF, 738KB).
The taxi rank is found at Posta Lapad, a 10-minute walk from most of our apartments, and costs 10-15 Euros from Lapad to the Old Town.
Insider’s tip: Orsan and the best sunsets
A visit to Restaurant Orsan is a real treat, whether during the day or for a romantic dinner in the evening. Its wonderful sea-level setting means it’s cooler during summer than any other spot in the Old Town, and both the food and service are excellent.
Make sure you don’t miss the sunsets over the Elaphiti (Elafitski or Elafiti) Islands. The perfect spots from which to admire these are the President or Valamar Club hotels. We enjoy sitting at the President hotel to watch the sun go down and enjoy a peaceful moment with a cold drink. Highly recommended!
Advice for staying in Lapad
If you decide to stay in Lapad, keep in mind that the area is hilly – that’s why most properties offer beautiful sea views. If you hire a car, many apartments and villas have their own parking space.
