Whenever we travel in an unfamiliar region, the same names pop up time and again. While researching and organising your visit to Dubrovnik, you’ve probably often come across the name ‘Pile Gate’. Found just outside the city walls, it’s one of three impressive gates leading into the Old Town.
As well as taxi ranks and bus stops, you can find nearby the tourist information centre, public parking, the universities, and several restaurants and coffee bars (we like Dubravka, which has a breakfast menu and a great location).
A special spot close to the Old Town
If you decide to venture down the narrow street at Pile Gate, you’ll discover a beautiful cove, a chapel, a small beach and a delicious seafood restaurant in the quiet pedestrian-only area. A sea kayaking company operates from the cove, and there are also several properties to rent, such as our MirO studio apartments.
If you stay here, you’ll enjoy a privileged, tranquil location that’s both close to the Old Town and only 80m from the Adriatic Sea. Every morning, we walk here to take in the beauty of this special spot. But as they say, a picture is worth a thousand words, so just take a look for yourself!
